photograph of no.s 18 (left) and 16 (right) West Hill Road, taken by Francis Read in 1968. A pencil inscription on the reverse (probably by Christopher Maxwell-Stewart) notes no.16, known as Green Banks, was built for James Burton in 1832 (actually c.1828/30, by E. Smith, who then leased it from Burton), and was the first home of his youngest daughter, Jesse Burton, upon her marriage to Peter John Fearon in 1833. No.18 is noted as having originally been farm buildings, later developed into a residential home by Alfred Burton c.1840-45 (then lived in by his sister, Eliza, with whom he previously shared a home at 36 Marina), and subject to restoration and modernisation since 2022. Location: Private collection.
