A vignette view of the seafront of St Leonards-on-Sea, centred on the Royal Victoria Hotel, built by James Burton in 1828 and originally called the St Leonards Hotel. It also shows the Assembly Rooms, the Clock House and Maze Hill, the Library on the promenade, and the beginning of East Ascent. The print acknowledges the proprietor, William Chamberlin, who also ran the Bristol Hotel on Marine Parade in Brighton, as well as being a wine merchant.
Hand-coloured steel engraving, 150 x 180mm., 1841.
