The view of the neo-classical Bath House and Library buildings is taken from the beach below the promenade in front of the Royal Victoria Hotel in St Leonards-on-Sea, where these buildings once stood. In the foreground are a fishing boat drawn up on the beach, and two figures, an adult with a child near an outlet pipe or groyne.
