original pencil drawing, inscribed below, and dated October 28th, 1833. The captions include what appears to say “Pastry Cooks” to the left. The view of the neo-classical Bath House and Library buildings is taken from the beach below the promenade in front of the Royal Victoria Hotel in St Leonards-on-Sea, where these buildings once stood. In the foreground are a fishing boat drawn up on the beach, and two figures, an adult with a child near an outlet pipe or groyne. Location: BSLS Archive, ex-collection of the late Christopher Maxwell-Stewart.
